About UConn ITAC

A U.S. Department of Energy funded initiative providing free, comprehensive energy assessments to eligible small-to-medium manufacturers across New England and Long Island.

What is the UConn ITAC?

The University of Connecticut Industrial Training and Assessment Center, based in Storrs, is a U.S. Department of Energy funded initiative that provides free, comprehensive energy assessments to eligible small-to-medium manufacturers across New England and Long Island.

The ITAC program was originally established in 1976 to help small and medium manufacturers cut energy costs, and has since expanded to cover waste reduction, cybersecurity, smart manufacturing, and energy management. It is administered through the Manufacturing Deployment Office within the DOE.

What We're Here to Do

  1. 1Offer free and comprehensive assessment and consulting services to small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) for resource efficiency, resilience, and productivity.
  2. 2Train students in improving industrial efficiency and operations through hands-on, real-world experience by conducting student team assessments of SMEs.
  3. 3Provide outreach and education opportunities to SMEs beyond those we directly serve, extending our impact across the region.
